Low Dose Naltrexone for Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is more than just hip pain! It is full body pain that makes it hard to sleep, which can effect mood and energy levels. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain (fibo fog) and spine process painful and nonpainful signals.
This can be caused by a viral infection, a surgery, or a significant psychological stress. Psychological stress means maybe a death in the family, a traumatic incidence, or something that just shocks your system. Other times it can come on progressively until it become impossible to function day-to-day.
Fibroymalgia is often accompanied by TMJ disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression.
However if you are reading this you probably tell us all about fibromyalgia. We know it sucks, how do you work with brain fog and no energy? How can you be a parent when your feeling anxious, depressed, or can't get a good night sleep? How can you be really present when you feel like this?
If you are like any of our other patients, you probably have talked to a doctorand they don't seem to get it. You get to treat the anxiety and depression with antidepressants. You can get better sleep with sleep aids, but nothing addresses the energy levels.
At Webster Pharmacy we work with prescribers that get it, we understand it, and we also know that sometimes low dose naltrexone for fibromyalgia fixes the pain. This doesn't mean you are completely better, it is just part of the solution.
In addition to using low dose naltrexone for fibromyalgia we like to work on your mitochondria. Mitochondria is the part of the cell that produce energy. When you are low on energy we try to fix the energy. Think of mitochondria as little engines in your cells, just like your car engine it burns fuel (sugar) and lets out exhaust. Sometimes the chronic stress, inflammation, and infection are just to much weight for your engine. Other times people develop insulin resistance and their engines go from a 36 mpg engines to 4 mpg engines. Or other times it could be caused from mitochondria depletion due to certain medications. So to address these issues we work with our patients on:
- Nutrition Plan
- Supplement Support- ALA, N-A-C, and more
- Magnesium
- Omega 3s
- CoQ10
